Call me a sap, but what better time than Christmas to indulge in the love?
So here are some other sweeties, the sugarplums that come to my mind when I am kicked back in the quiet, looking at the light of the tree and praying my thanksgivings to God on any given advent evening:
Rosemary, who carried my terminally epileptic beagle outside to go potty for me at a time when I was too ill to do it myself, who made me tuna sandwiches and forced me to eat against my will when I lay imprisoned to bedrest, giantly pregnant with baby Roo and weak as a kitten.
Miss Cheri, who welcomed toddler Toe into her little flock of Red Birds when Mommy and Daddy desperately needed an extra hand, and who will always be the amazing Christian woman I long to be when/if I ever grow up.
Megan, who stepped out of her own pain in her sensible shoes to arrange an unbelievable benefit for our family, at one of the most challenging times we have ever lived through--just because she loved. She is my forever SITL.
Uncle Jimbo, my brilliant brother from another mother, for loving on us all and encouraging us and making us laugh, sharing the adventures and struggles of his life with us and constantly reminding us that "family" is bigger than the link of biology.
Grandpa Pankake, the Wyze Wun, for sharing his history, his music, his mind and his lovely Wyze Wife, Marcia.
Tante Katy, Sunny Sarah, Pastor Steve and Stephanie, Lil' Chicken, Amy, Dr. Ris, Dr. Walk, Dr. Rumsey, Dr. Liesz, Miss Claire, Ms. Tanya, Sue & Jeoff of the Supperclub of the Living Dead, my newest sisters in the cause: the MN Cackle of Rads and so many others.
Never understimate the power of just being a friend and an awesome creation, Sugar! Happy December!
